Behavioral Health Services Department offers a continuum of substance use treatment services that are designed for youth and young adults ages 12-21 that have substance use and mental health needs.

Services

Are provided at no cost or low cost in a confidential setting. Treatment services are mainly provided at schools, County clinics, and community agencies throughout Santa Clara County.

Outpatient treatment services are offered at centrally based clinics and selected school sites throughout Santa Clara County. Sites offer educational, individual, group, and family counseling. Care coordination services are available to support youth and young adults with social, educational, and vocational needs. The frequency of services is based on the client’s needs. Treatment services are offered to youth without mandated parent involvement. We do encourage parents and caregiver to be involved when treatment services are being provided.

Services are being offer to youth and young adults with higher levels of need. This level of treatment helps clients to focus on positive relapse prevention skills and the effects of substance use. Sessions are provided at a minimum of 6 hours per week to individual, group and/or family setting.

Services consists of structured and live-in residential at licensed facilities for youth ages 13-17 to assist them in recovery from substance abuse. Services include individual, family, and group counseling setting. Youth are connected to medical, dental, and mental health services as needed.

These services require special authorization from the mental health plan.

Youth and young adults can receive on-going support after treatment through individual and group counseling, recovery monitoring, and linkage to support groups to assist in their recovery. Services are offered within the community, by phone, or in clinic locations.​

We use a variety of treatment techniques to help you achieve your goals, treatment sessions can be quite different for everyone.  We will empower you to make your own decisions about your substance use and recovery.

The duration of treatment is dependent on type of service and individual need. We want to be supportive of your recovery and overall health.

Services are confidential; however, information regarding your treatment may be released to others only with your consent.

There is a federal law called 42 CFR Part 2 which says that youth have the right to seek and obtain substance use treatment on their own. In California there are state laws that also allow youth that are 12 year of age or older to consent or sign-up for treatment without their parents or guardians having to be informed.
