Services

Outreach and education

  • We offer Adult and Youth Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training for Filipino consumers and family members, health care providers (e.g., nurses, caregivers), and those who can benefit from an education course related to mental illness. MHFA is a 8-hour course taught by certified county and community partners. Instruction and course materials are free.

Nagtuturo kami ng Mental Health First Aid (MHFA).
  • Other outreach activities
    • Philippine Independence Day Celebration and Flag Raising Ceremony (June)
    • Filipino-American History Month (October)
    • Church and school outreaching for MHFA
    • Filipino hotspots (Seasons Plaza, Eastridge Mall, etc.)

Group support and education

  • We are planning to conduct events for consumers and families to get together, exchange information, and provide mutual support. For example, we are planning support group for Filipino American seniors and youth.

Consumer and family support

  • We have family partners who can provide individual attention through guidance and sharing of resources and information.
  • We have bilingual phone support staff who can provide information and referrals such as medical, legal, social welfare, and mental health resources.

Advocacy

  • We seek to increase mental health awareness and decrease stigma on mental illness through regular program activities, including seminars, workshops, health fairs, translating materials, and focus groups.
  • ECCAC staff members regularly attend meetings by the Mental Health Board and its various committees, including the Minority Advisory Committee, Older Adults, and Family, Adolescents, and Children.
