Substance use treatment services are provided to adult and older adults that have substance use and mental health needs. Services are offered in a trauma-informed, culturally and linguistically competent coordinated system of care. Services are provided to all people, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation. We offer services in multiple languages including English, Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese and Tagalog.

Services
What is Withdrawal Management?
Also known as detox, withdrawal management is for people who:
- Use substances daily and cannot stop on their own
- Are already in withdrawal and need a safe, supportive place to stabilize
- Do not require intensive medical care from a doctor or nurse
These services provide a safe, 24/7 residential environment where individuals can begin recovery. Once stable, clients are screened and referred to the next appropriate level of care.
Service Details:
- Care is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- Detox services usually last 1 to 7 days
- Referrals to medical care are made if needed

Anyone living in Santa Clara County who is struggling with daily use of alcohol or other drugs.

After-care recovery services help clients maintain their progress and prevent relapse. These services are available after completing a treatment program and are tailored to meet each person’s needs.

Residential treatment is a live-in program for individuals who need more intensive support to stop the daily use of alcohol or drugs. These structured programs are provided in licensed treatment facilities with separate settings for men, women, and women with children.

The length of stay varies and is based on each person’s needs as determined during the assessment.
Perinatal Residential Treatment (for pregnant or parenting women)
Specialized residential services are available for pregnant women and women with young children. These programs offer a safe, supportive place to begin or continue recovery while receiving prenatal and parenting support.
Services Include:
- 👩🍼 Women-specific treatment and recovery planning
- 🍼 Entry into treatment at any stage of pregnancy, with services continuing up to 120 days after delivery
- 🏠 On-site living with support to build life and parenting skills
- 👶 Focus on child development and parenting education
- 🩺 Full access to pregnancy-related care, including prenatal visits, labor and delivery support, postpartum care, and family planning
- 🔄 Ongoing treatment is reviewed and reauthorized every six months to ensure continued medical necessity
These services follow the Perinatal Services Network Guidelines and are designed to support both recovery and healthy parenting.

Residential treatment providers
Recovery residential programs—formerly known as transitional housing—offer safe, structured living environments for individuals who are receiving outpatient treatment for substance use.
These programs help clients stabilize their recovery while they build life skills and strengthen support systems.
